Publication Acceptability of online-shopping among the faculty, staff and BSBA students of DMMMSU Open University System(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University -Open University System, 2018) Rimando, Normanby G.This study entitled “Acceptability and satisfaction of Online Shopping” utilized the descriptive research. A set of questionnaire relative to the profile and factors affecting the acceptability and satisfaction of online shopping was used. From the result of the study, a strategic marketing plan was crafted to showcase the acceptability and satisfaction in online-shopping. The study determined the acceptability of online shopping among the faculty, staff, and BSBA students of DMMMSU Open University System as a basis to formulate a strategic marketing plan. The respondents of this study are composed of three (3) sets (1) faculty (2) non-teaching and (3) BSBA students. They were considered as respondents in view of their awareness, observation, and familiarity as regards the subject matter of the study. Since there are a total of one hundred nineteen respondents, total enumeration was utilized. Data were collected, tallied and analyzed in accordance with the study. Frequency and percentages were the statistical tools used in the computation of the gathered data. The findings of the study show that: 1. More than half of the respondents were females, with an age bracket from 21-30 with bachelor’s degree or undergraduate courses;2. Along the factors affecting the acceptability and satisfaction of online shopping, it can be said that: a. The company provides an overall organization or navigation;b. The company offers an affordable or reasonable price; and c. The delivery covers warranty in case of delay or damage during the shipment.3. As to the problems encountered, delivery time is almost delayed. The findings of the study show that: 1. It also includes the ability to handle the risks that come with running a business. Competencies focusing into Technical, Human and Conceptual can be applied to many different jobs in the courier service industry. The researchers used descriptive research method as the primary instrument of the data collection. The finding revealed that the respondents are technically, conceptually and humanly competent. The proposed training design of this research intend to assist the growth delivery riders significantly influence customer satisfaction, reliability, assurance and empathy.Publication Financial performance of dried fish businesses in Santo Tomas, La Union(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - Mid La Union Campus, 2025-06) De Guzman, Angeline Kyla A.; Delizo, Rexter John P.; Marzan, Sophie Vera D.; Panit, Bea Nicole C.; Sta. Rufina, Mikaela Jaedel G.This study examines the financial performance of registered dried fish businesses in Santo Tomas, La Union, focusing on profitability, liquidity, leverage, and revenue, and explores links between business profiles and financial outcomes. Using a descriptive correlational design, data were collected from 11 micro-enterprises via validated surveys. Financial ratios, quick ratio, net profit margin, return on assets, and debt-to equity ratio were calculated and analyzed with Spearman’s Rho and Kruskal-Wallis tests. Results showed all businesses were family-owned sole proprietorships, micro-sized with capital under ₱3,000,000 and fewer than 10 employees. They exhibited strong liquidity and profitability with moderate leverage, reflecting efficient financial management despite limited formal registration. No significant correlations were found between business profiles and financial metrics, suggesting operational structure and capital source have little effect on performance. The study emphasizes the need for greater formalization through DTI and BIR registration to support sustainable growth. Recommendations include enhancing financial literacy and promoting compliance with national standards.Publication Financial performance of rice retailing businesses in the City of San Fernando, La Union(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - Mid La Union Campus, 2025-05) Cabueñas, Rogieley Joy C.; Abat, Shantale D.; Cariño, Mikko N.; Estigoy, Mark John D.; Madrid, Alma M.Agriculture remains a crucial driver of economic growth, particularly in developing countries, where it serves as a primary source of income and economic activity. Additionally, rice is a staple food in many Asian countries, further emphasizing the importance of the agricultural sector. This study assessed the financial performance of Rice Retailing Businesses in the City of San Fernando, La Union, focusing on the relationship between business profile- such as registration status, capitalization, business size, years of operation, form of ownership, business location, and sources of inventory-and key financial indicators including revenue, liquidity, profitability, and leverage. Using a cross-sectional and correlational research design, data were collected from 38 Rice Retailing Businesses through survey questionnaires. Findings showed that capitalization significantly influenced revenue, liquidity, and leverage, while years of operation and business location affected profitability indicators. The study concludes that financial performance is mainly driven by capitalization, years of operation, and business location.Publication Human resource management practices of restaurants in San Juan, La Union(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - Mid La Union Campus, 2025-07) Bandol, Mary Jane S.; Bueno, Nicole S.; Estocapio, Jessica P.; Valdez, Gemma Mae R.; Wilford, Jenie Rose O.This research explores the Human Resource Management (HRM) practices of selected restaurants in San Juan, La Union―a well-known destination for both local and international tourists. Focusing on 31 registered establishments, the study examines how these businesses manage recruitment, job information and organization, acquisition, maintenance and development. Most of the restaurants are small, casual-dining micro enterprises that operate during limited hours and cater primarily to young, budget conscious customers. Using a descriptive cross-sectional design and structured questionnaires, the study found that while HRM practices are consistently applied across all establishments, variations exist depending on restaurant type, size, operating hours, customer behavior, and ownership structure. Despite the absence of formal HR departments, owners, and managers demonstrate a strong commitment of staff support and operational efficiency. The findings emphasize the importance of adapting HR strategies to match the restaurant’s business model and customer profile, contributing to both employee satisfaction and long-term growth within the food and tourism industry.Publication Implementation of EO 66-2021: jnt's delighting customers with excellent delivery services(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University -Open University System, 2023) Trapane, Aizel Christine G.; Badua, Patricia Anne Joyce A.The COVID-19 crisis has led to the ease of use in the online shopping. In accordance with the health protocols released by the World Health Organization, Philippine Government Agencies likewise publicized a series of health guidelines through Department of Health. IATF published a Resolution numbered 61, series of 2020 providing a clear view of the community quarantine delamination. The study intends to measure how the delivery riders of JNT implemented the health protocols specified in Executive Order 66-series 2021 to their customers. Descriptive research design were adopted in the analysis of the study and questionnaires were used as the main data gathering tool. Frequency counts and percentages were used to measure the profile of respondents while the weighted mean was utilized to measure how to delivery riders of JNT implement the EO 66-2020 to their customers in San Fernando City, La Union. The respondents of this study were residents in City of San Fernando, La Union. The findings revealed that the extent of implementation was "poorly implemented".Publication Implementation of ginger as one town one product of Cervantes, Ilocos Sur(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University -Open University System, 2018) Gasigas, Sandie A.; Sarmiento, Rowena N.; Malagday, Catherine D.; Apostol, John Jericho B.The study aimed to assess the status of Ginger as One-town, One product of Cervantes, Ilocos Sur. It was conducted among the Municipal implementers which includes the Department of Agriculture and the Rural Improvement Coordinators, the farmers and the members of the Rural Improvement Club (RIC) members. As the study was descriptive in nature, data were gathered primarily through the use of questionnaire. Moreover, additional information was gathered through actual interview with the respondents. There were 85 respondents. Six (6) from the Department of Agriculture, Two (2) from the Rural Improvement Club Coordinators; twenty-seven (27) farmers and fifty (50) members of the Rural Improvement Club members. The study revealed that there is a high potential of ginger as One Town One Product in the Municipality of Cervantes, Ilocos Sur. The availability of labor force or manpower indicating that there is a great number of farmers indulge in planting ginger are the highest factors that indicates its potential as One Town One product of the said municipality. Likewise, in its extent of implementation as One Town One Product covering all the indicators presented which includes technical, financial and promotions which also got a high rating. The lack of support or assistance from the Local Government Unit of Cervantes, Ilocos Sur is considered to be the most serious problem encountered.Publication Kasambahay business services in Barangay Poro, San Fernando City, La Union : a feasibility study(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University -Open University System, 2017) Vidaña, Monette T.; Tadije, Ruby Anne G.This study was conducted to determine the status of operating a Kasambahay Business Services in Barangay Poro, San Fernando City, La Union. The descriptive method of research was used in the study. Data were treated using frequency counts and percentage. A questionnaire is the managing tool in gathering the information needed. It is distributed purposively. The 330 respondents were obtained by using the Slovin’s Formula. The actual data of the total population of Barangay Poro, San Fernando City, La Union was gathered through the Barangay Captain. Results of the Study show that operating a Kasambahay Business Services in Barangay Poro is feasible. Referred from the marketing aspect, the market acceptability is enough for the business to be profitable. An analysis of the financial aspect of the study illustrates that the three years of operation will be profitable despite the costs of services. This is due to the significant decrease in expenses caused by the elimination of costs that are only related to the first year of operations. For the succeeding years, the business income will gradually grow. To spread the awareness about the Kasambahay Agency being operated in Barangay Poro, orientations, trainings, and seminars will be conducted in every barangay in San Fernando City, La Union.Publication Proposed music training design of stardom music and arts learning studio(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University -Open University System, 2010) Lino, Leodea H.This study proposed the music training design of Stardom Music and Arts Learning Studio. It also aimed to determine the profile of Stardom Music and Arts Learning Studio and the Student Respondents along age, gender, singing experience, and music preference. The finding showed that most of the 100 students respondents were adolescents. They had no formal training in voice lessons but they have performed in singing competitions or as a guest singer in different occasions. The respondents had a high musical interest while they prefer pop music because of the trend nowadays. It also included the physical process of singing on articulation, phonation, posture, resonation, respiration, voice range and voice quality. The vocal faults encountered by the respondents during the training program was 'serious' in relation to the physical processes of singing along: articulation, phonation, posture , resonation, respiration, vocal range , and voice quality. Likewise, the level of implementation of policies of Stardom Music and Arts Learning Studio was very high because students wanted to learn music sincerely and they did not want to waste their money and time in attending their classes while vocal coaches were very strict in implementing the policies for fear of losing their job. Data were gathered and analyze using frequency counts, percentages and weighted means. There were activities such as: lectures, demonstration, group phase, individually, physical and voice exercises, solo group singing that were used to help the students in overcoming their vocal faults. These activities are good steps for the child to enhance his/her talent and to boost up his/her social emotional growth and consciousness. It is also concluded that Stardom Music and Arts Studio is a profitable music school and that training needs to be continuous for the students. Based on the finding, the researcher recommends that Stardom Music and Arts Learning Studio needs to expand or establish a new music school because there were students from far places who were willing to attend the class. The proposed training design may be used to enrich the music subject especially in the art of singing. In business, this music design may be a guide in putting up a music school and to have more knowledge or ways on how to gain more income. Music teachers and music schools may adopt the proposed training design. Furthermore, research along this area may be explored to enrich/validate the findings of the study, as well as to improve music education.Publication Sales promotion activities of selected general merchandizing stories in San Juan, La Union: Input to sales promotional plan(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University -Open University System, 2015) Moderin, Leren C.; Palacay, Elma N.; Rubis, Maricel C.The study aimed to assess the sales promotional activities of selected merchandising stores in San Juan, as a basis of formulating the proposed sales promotional plan. It was conducted in five general merchandize stores of San Juan, La Union : namely: Clara's Amor, Lucky shine, Rayword, Henlyn and the vine mini mart. As study was descripted in nature, data were gathered primarily through the use of questionnaire. Moreover, additional information were gathered through actual interview with the respondents. There were 50 respondents, five are owners and employees, forty-five (45) of them were customers. the results of the study showed that most of the selected general merchandising stores are sole proprietorship. The length of operation ranged from (0-10) years (60%) wit the capitalization of 201-300 thousand pesos (50%). There are one (1) to the three (3) numbers of employees (40%) in every general merchandizing store. Scope of operation is 50% within the municipality. Their target market are retailers and wholesalers. The findings of this study revealed the following on the extent of usage of sales promotional activities of selected general merchandizing stores and the degree of seriousness of problems encountered. Owners preferred to promote price-pack deals which is the highest on the result survey. Price discounts has the highest rate on the problems encountered by the general merchandizing stores. Based on the results of the study a three-year sales promotional plan for the selected merchandizing stores in San Juan, La Union was formulated.Publication Socio-economic contributions of vinegar processing center of Galongen-Maragayap, Bacnotan, La Union(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - Mid La Union Campus, 2024-05) Peralta, Maylene D.; Esto, Genevieve A.; Fabian, Angelicashe D.; Gonzales, Ma. Patricia S.; Paulo, Irene M.The Vinegar Processing Center, initiated by the Galongen-Maragayap Fanners Association of Bacnotan, La Union Inc. and located in Maragayap, Bacnotan, La Union, was established in 2018, covering a total land area of 61.374 hectares. Its primary goal is to organize local livestock, integrated farming, and agro-forestry producers to enhance community development and improve living conditions through various facilities, services, and enterprises. This study delves into the project's socio-economic contributions to the beneficiaries. The study employed research-made survey questionnaires and documentary analysis to gather data from 10 project implementers and 26 beneficiaries. Using frequency and percentage analysis and a thorough review of relevant documents, the study found that the Vinegar Processing Center has positively contributed to its beneficiaries' social and economic well-being. Additionally, the implementers have implemented sustainability measures to ensure the project's continuous improvement and success. The study proposes a policy brief that assists project members in understanding waste segregation challenges and provides recommendations for effective waste management policies that are centered on the implementers.Publication Status of NU skin business builders: a basis for an enhanced entrepreneurial capability building program for synergy 1 global in La Union(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University -Open University System, 2016) Sabado, Alexis C.This study made use of the descriptive survey method. The questionnaire is the main tool in gathering the information needed. This focused on the profile of the respondents, the level of resilience of respondents, the level of entrepreneurial potential of respondents, and the effect of seatbacks encountered by the respondents. A total of 20 respondents were given questionnaire in the province of La Union. The findings of this study revealed the following: As to their gender, there were more females (70%) than males (30%). As to their educational background, the highest number was those who graduated from college (50%) and the least number was those who have not yet graduated from college and with Ph.D. units (10%). As to their civil status, many of the business builders were single individuals (60%) and only one was a widow (5%). As to their work status, many of the business builders were employed (75%) and minority was a business owner (5%). As to their income range, there were many business builders with the income range of P9,001- P20,000 (50%) and the least were those business builders with the income range of P 30,001 - P40,001-P 50,000 (5%). As to their property ownership, 35% of the business builders owned a car and 50% of the business builders owned a home. Due to restrictions and safety protocols, Digital Technology is the key to surviving the businesses during this pandemic. Thanks to the technology, many establishments are trying to use this for operating their businesses. One of the businesses that transitioned to Digital Technology is the Restaurant establishments. Since the pandemic, Denisia’s Grill and Seafood Restaurant Bauang and Bacnotan branch also experienced challenges like decreased sales because of the limited customers due to restrictions. They tried the food application where they can automatically receive the order. They needed to adjust their supply chain because of the sudden changes like restrictions, health protocol such as logging in of customers who are entering the establishments, social distancing, and the operating hours. Restaurant owners are posting their menus on their Pages where they can accept orders through Messenger or accept advance orders and reservations. Because of the advancement of Technology, Businesses still operating and surviving. The goal of this study is to find out how restaurant owners survive during this pandemic.
