Abstract
This study examines the financial performance of registered dried fish businesses in Santo Tomas, La Union, focusing on profitability, liquidity, leverage, and revenue, and explores links between business profiles and financial outcomes. Using a descriptive correlational design, data were collected from 11 micro-enterprises via validated surveys. Financial ratios, quick ratio, net profit margin, return on assets, and debt-to equity ratio were calculated and analyzed with Spearman’s Rho and Kruskal-Wallis tests. Results showed all businesses were family-owned sole proprietorships, micro-sized with capital under ₱3,000,000 and fewer than 10 employees. They exhibited strong liquidity and profitability with moderate leverage, reflecting efficient financial management despite limited formal registration. No significant correlations were found between business profiles and financial metrics, suggesting operational structure and capital source have little effect on performance. The study emphasizes the need for greater formalization through DTI and BIR registration to support sustainable growth. Recommendations include enhancing financial literacy and promoting compliance with national standards.
