Abstract
Internship programs in governments have emerged as a significant approach in linking book-knowledge and real-world experience for students. Such internship programs are available locally and internationally; these helps participants build up their professional competencies. Government Internship Program was established to provide young people, particularly recent graduates and/or students, opportunities and engage them to serve public agencies/entities projects and programs at the national and local level. This study evaluated the effectiveness of Government Internship Programs in San Fernando City, La Union. Using a descriptive quantitative research design, data were obtained from 168 respondents, taken from the GIP participants of City of San Fernando, La Union. Frequency, percentage, and median with Cramer's V and Spearman’s Rho were utilized as statistical tools to interpret and analyze the gathered data. The findings emphasize that the Government Internship Program in the City of San Fernando, La Union, could be enhanced tremendously through program implementation strategies, which are intentionally designed, role appropriate, and revised on a regular basis.
