A descriptive method of research was used in the study. Statistical tools used were frequency counts, percentages , 5-point Likert scale and weighted means. The study focused on the Core Shelter Assistance Project beneficiaries from the Municipalities of Caoayan and Santa and from Vigan City in the Province of Ilocos Sur. Purposive sampling was used to select target respondents. The study showed that homeowners display a moderate level of knowledge on inclusivity, high levels of knowledge in safety and security, and resiliency, and a moderate level of knowledge in sustainability. Their attitudes generally agree on indicators related to inclusivity, safety and security but appear undecided on indicators of resiliency and sustainability. Similarly, their practices are moderate in inclusivity, security and safety, resiliency, and sustainability. The topmost problems encountered by homeowners include accessibility issues for inclusivity, non-issuance of certificates of occupancy for safety and security, economic challenges for resiliency, and hesitation in accessing social protection programs and services for sustainability. The study concludes with recommendations on effectively implementing the five-year community empowerment development plan to engage homeowners in decision-making processes, fostering a sense of ownership, resilience, and collaboration within the community. These steps lead to the empowerment of homeowners in creating livable and sustainable communities.Publication A case study on students with parental responsibilities(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State Univeristy - South La Union Campus, 2020-06) Abando, Jamicahlyn M.; Semensin, Glirie Pearl P.; Panelo, May Ann R.; Valdez, Jennica L.This study aims to explore the experiences of the students with parental responsibilities. It utilizes the Mehlhorn algorithm, an efficient approximation algorithm based on the original greedy algorithm, that computes near-optimal Steiner Tree, as substitute to the greedy algorithm in the implementation of the Carousel greedy algorithm, a heuristic approach developed by Cerrone, Cerulli, & Golden (2017) that solves optimization problems by iteratively adding edges to a partial solution. The proposed algorithm was compared to the original implementation of the Mehlhorn algorithm in terms of their (1) cost, (2) constructed Steiner tree, and (3) runtime to test the viability of the proposed algorithm in solving the Steiner free problem on a suite of user-generated graphs, with different cases on selecting the terminals used in each experiment. Comparison results showed that the Hybrid Carousel Greedy Algorithm and the Mehlhorn Algorithm produced similar results in terms of the computed cost and the constructed Steiner tree. In terms of their average runtime, the proposed algorithm performed relatively faster than the original algorithm on some a/the experimental set ups considered, while there were also set ups where the original algorithm outperformed the proposed algorithm. These differences in average runtimes were also subjected to a statistical analysis to test whether they are significant or not. The proposed algorithm was also used 10 solve real-life situations concerning Steiner trees in the context of Power Distribution Network, and Transportation Network.Publication A job portal system for public employment service office (PESO) using codeigniter framework(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State Univeristy - South La Union Campus, 2023-04) Rivera, Jose Paolo G.; Boado, Marian Joyce I.; Miana, Jessa J.; Sanchez, Joshua Given C.A job portal system is an online platform that connects job seekers with potential employers.
