    Academic performance of the Bachelor of Public Administration in Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, Mid La Union Campus

    Academic performance is important for it is one key determinant of future success. This study aimed to determine the academic performance of BPA students in DMMMSU MLUC. The data-were collected from the 71 third year students through documentary analysis. Findings revealed that BPA students vary in their proficiency in the OLSAT College Admission Test. As to General Education courses, the students had obtained the highest GPA in GEMC 101a while as to Professional Core courses, they had the highest GPAinPADM110.AlongtheSpecialCore courses, students had gained the highest GPA in PASC 102whilealongthe Elective courses, they had obtained the highest GPA in ELEC 113. The acquired overall GPA rating of the respondents among the mentioned courses was satisfactory. It was proven that the OLSAT College Admission Test and the academic performance of the Public Administration students are not correlated.

    Academic Performance is a key measure of school success. It relates to the extent to which a student or institution has met their educational objectives. This study aimed to describe the academic performance of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration students in DMMMSU-MLUC. The data were collected from 131 third year students through documentary analysis. Findings revealed that the BSBA students manifested different levels of learning foundations in the OLSAT College Admission Test when they enrolled College. As to HRDM, Marketing Management, and Financial Management majors generally acquired satisfactory and good ratings in General education, Core Business and Management Courses, Business Administration Core Courses, Professional Courses and Elective Courses. Product moment of correlation was used to determine whether there are an exist significant relationship between academic proficiency and academic performance of the BSBA students. The OLSAT College Admission Test results had no influence on the student’s performance of BSBA students.

    Student’s academic performance is a key feature in educational goals. This study aimed to determine the academic performance of the BSHM students in DMMMSU - MLUC. The data were collected from the 86 third year hospitality management students through documentary analysis. Findings revealed that BSHM students vary in their academic proficiency in the College Admission Test. As to their academic performance, the students obtained the highest GPA in GECC 104, while in Business and Management education they had Mgmt. 102 as their highest GPA. Along the Tourism and Hospitality Core the students mainly obtained a good and satisfactory rating. As to Professional Core, Resc 101 is their highest GPA, while they had their highest GPA in HMgE 102 in their Professional Electives. The acquired overall GPA rating of the respondents among the stated courses was good. The results proves that the College Admission Test of the respondents and their overall academic performance are correlated.

    Academic performance is the dimension of student's accomplishment. It is the basis of teachers and instructors to compute the GPA. This study aimed to describe the academic performance of the third year BSOA students in DMMMSU-MLUC. The data were collected from 73 third year students through documentary analysis. Findings revealed that the third year BSOA have different levels in their learning foundations in OLSAT College Admission Test. Asto General Education courses, the third year students had the highest GPA in GECC 104 Ethics while asto Core Business and Management Education Courses, the third year students had the highest grade point average (GPA) in MGMT 102 Operations Management. Asto Core Courses, the third year students had the highest GPA in RESC102 Thesis Writing. Asto Elective Courses, the third year students had the highest GPA in ELEC 104 Medical Office Procedures. Most of the third year students had the good rating in their Elective courses. OLSAT College Admission Test has no significant relationship on the overall GPA of third year students.

    There has not been any research done on brand awareness in La Union's South Tourism Circuit, the reason this topic was looked at. The purpose of this thesis was to make a research on brand awareness and in return may serve as a reference for related researches and for deeper study. This study aimed to determine the profile of the municipalities under the South Tourism Circuit and to determine the level of awareness of the La Union tourism branding in the South Tourism Circuit. The research group was limited to the residents/tourists and employees from South Tourism Circuit of La Union. This made it possible to determine the profile of the municipalities of South tourism circuit and the level of awareness. The findings revealed that respondents in La Union’s South Tourism Circuit had high level of brand awareness. There was difference of level of awareness between municipalities.

    Corporate governance standards and practices of government owned and controlled corporations in the City of San Fernando, La Union

    Corporate governance is the control of management in the best interests of the company, including accountability to shareholders who elect directors and auditors and vote on say on pay (Leblanc, 2015). This study aimed to determine the Corporate Governance Standards and Practices of Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs) in City of San Fernando, La Union. Six out of 10 national GOCCs operating in the City participated in this survey, but only branch managers were included as respondents. Responses were validated from the respondents and their respective websites. The questionnaire was structured into two parts. Data in this survey used frequency, percentage, weighted mean and one-way ANOVA. Findings revealed that GOCCs implement corporate standards based on ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard and often practice these corporate standards which are stakeholder relationships, disclosure and transparency and responsibilities of the board. Moreover, there is significant difference between extents of practice of the standards among the GOCCs.

    Employee motivation is an important factor to assess the employees to continue to grow and develop job and career enhancing skills in order to be competitive and have a good employee retention in the organization. The study aimed to determine the level of Employee Career Motivation and Development of Selected Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs) in the City of San Fernando, La Union. This is a descriptive research; a survey questionnaire was used to gather data; and mean, Kendal Tau b. and Spearman Rho were used to analyze the data. The employees’ level of career motivation in terms of career resilience, career insight, and career identity are high while the employees’ extent of career development was rated high in terms of career planning and very high in terms of career management. Furthermore, findings show that there is a significant relationship between career motivation and development of employees.

    This study is about Employee Development in DMMMSU-MLUC. Specifically, it delved into the: 1)profile oftherespondents,2)determined the implementation of the various employee development strategies on the campus, namely, advanced studies, enhancement of knowledge and skills development, personality development, professional work ethics, interpersonal relationship and personality development; 3) determined the level of effectiveness of the employee development programs; and 4) determined the degree of seriousness of problems encountered by both groups of respondents as regards the implementation of the employee development programs. Based on the study's findings, the profile of the respondents is varied and the employee program was implemented effectively. Also, the respondents encountered serious and moderate challenges in the implementation of the employee development programs.

    Employment conditions of millennials in the District I Municipal Trial Courts of La Union

    Employment Conditions refers to the rules, requirements, and policies an employer and employee agree to abide by during the employee’s service to a company or organization. The standard for the employment conditions that millennials are looking for may include external factors, such as economic factors and technological factors, or internal factors, such as job satisfaction and career development opportunities. The purpose of this study is to determine the employment conditions of millennials in the District I of Municipal Trial Courts of La Union. To collect the data related to the personal profile, employment profile, and employment conditions of the millennial employees, a survey instrument was administered to the thirty-two (32) millennial employees of the District I Municipal Trial Courts of La Union. Frequency counts, percentages, mean, T-Test, and One-way ANOVA were used for the data analysis. Findings revealed that the level of employment conditions of Millennials in the District I Municipal Trial Courts of La Union is very high and that there is no difference on the level of employment conditions across the employment profile of the respondents when grouped as to gender, civil status, and highest educational attainment.

    ICT competency of BSOA students of DMMMSU MLUC

    The BSOA students need to be ICT literate to be prepared and soon will be faced the demands of a computer-based work that need to have these competencies. Thus, this study on ICT COMPETENCY OF BSOA STUDENTS OF DMMMSU-MLUC was conceptualized to assess the status of competence and significant differences of the respondents and design an intervention program. The study used descriptive statistics to describe the profile and status of ICT competence of the students. The researchers administered the survey instrument by personally conducting hands-on test to the respondents. The finding of the study showed that almost all of the respondents are skilled and knowledgeable in ICT areas. The competence of the respondents in ICT areas denied the concept of significant difference across the respondents' profile. An intervention program was developed to upskill the ICT skills of BSOA students to meet all the ICT competency.

    Knowledge Management is an integrated approach that offers the ability to make information available for the right people, to get the right knowledge at the right time. This study determined the knowledge management awareness of the teaching and non-teaching personnel of DMMMSU, Mid-La Union Campus. A quantitative-descriptive research design was used to obtain the profile and level of knowledge management awareness of 229 employees using an adapted survey questionnaire checklist, which were analyzed using frequency counts, percentages,5-point Likert scale, and Kruskal Wallis. The findings revealed that the teaching and non-teaching personnel are (55.89%) female, (46.72%) middle-aged, (54.14%) educationally competent, with (48.03%) designations mostly in their respective colleges, where almost half are (46.28%)in service for less than five years and have attended few knowledge management related trainings and seminars. Further, the findings indicated that the employees were (4) highly aware of knowledge management and their participation to trainings and seminars was found to be significant of their being aware of knowledge management.

    Market Entry Strategies refer to the activities associated with bringing a product or services to a targeted market by the business. This study answered the query on the market entry strategies used by foodparks, their growth aswell as the relationship between their market entry strategies and growth. This study made used of a close-ended checklist type of questionnaire answered by the 4 food parks. Frequency counts, percentages, and T-lest for correlation are used to analyze the data gathered. Based on the observation conducted by the researchers, the respondents claim that they are offering better food and beverage selection compared to their competitors, and highlight the benefits of their product through giving captivating theme or concept to the customers. Further, majority use a relatively low initial entry price, usually lower than the intended established price, to easily attract customers and position their product through the use of personal selling, advertising, and public relation.

    Preferred office skills for secretaries of business establishments in City of San Fernando La Union

    This study aimed to determine the preferred office skills for secretaries needed in business establishments. There were total of 34 respondents in the said study who were the office managers/business owners/HR of the business establishments in City of San Fernando La Union. The questionnaire was adopted from the study of Hidalgo el al, 2021. The researchers identified the profile of the respondents as to their age, civil status, and educational attainment. Frequency Counts and Percentages were used to analyze and interpret the preferred profile of respondents and their preferred office skills. The Pearson Correlation test was used to determine the skills preferred by employers. The findings revealed that the majority of the respondents preferred secretaries aged between 18-25 and 26-33. Based on educational attainment most of the preferred secretaries are college graduates. It appears that there is no significant relationship between the preferred age to preferred office skills. A training design was developed to upskill the BSOA student in terms of office competencies.

    Purposive writing competence of English language learners

    Poor writing skills may originate from two factors: the teacher and the learner. This study sought answers to the following: the level of purposive writing competence of the ABEL students of DMMMSU-MLUC along rhetorical concerns, rhetorical structures, and conventions; the significant difference on the level of purposive writing competence of the ABEL students when grouped as to year level and; the strengths and weaknesses of the ABEL students in purposive writing. Moreover, the study made use of the descriptive-evaluative-survey method in which an essay prompt and a grading rubric were used as tools in determining the writing competence of the students. The researchers found out that the ABEL students are labeled to be not competent on purposive writing along rhetorical concerns, rhetorical structures, and conventions. They are exposed to major problem in writing communication, despite being enrolled in the English Language Program. Therefore, writing is still a problem.

    Records management practices in the upland barangays of San Fernando City, La Union: Input to training program

    Records management is the planning, controlling, directing, organizing, training, promoting, and other managerial activities involved in records creation, maintenance and use, and disposition to achieve adequate and proper documentation. This study determined the extent practice of the Upland Barangays in the City of San Fernando, La Union regarding records management or records creation. The collected data regarding to the personal profile, seminars or training attended for the last three (3) years and the records management practices of the respondents, a survey questionnaire instrument was administered to the eighty-four (84) barangay officials in different Upland Barangays in the City of San Fernando, La Union. Frequency counts, percentage, and median were used for data analysis. Findings revealed that the respondent barangay officials of the Upland Barangays in the City of San Fernando, La Union were mostly women and trained for handling different records as well as by handling and filing confidential records to protect one’s personal information. A training design was developed to upskill the barangay officials in terms of records management.

    This study presents the records keeping practices in Urban Barangays in Bauang, La Union. Records management practices hold a significant role in understanding the essential skills that 'barangay officials possess. Descriptive method research design was employed for determining the practices and extent of the records activities in 36 barangay officials. The activities are based on the Records Lifecycle Theory which includes the records creation, records distribution, records utilization, records maintenance that are filed and stored, and records disposition that are based to formulate a training program. The activities practiced and their extent were determined by the help of statistical tools and the 5-point Likert scale. The survey questionnaire was employed to acquire results in activities practiced. Some of the record activities did not achieve the expected outcome. A training design was developed to enhance the practices of barangay officials in terms of records maintenance.

    Team culture among support staff in private hospitals in the City of San Fernando La Union

    Team members understand on participating in the team and how the team fits within their organization. Teamwork, could give the team members to maximize their individual strength and bring out their best. The standard for the extent of team culture of the support staff is looking for may include clarity of team goals, communication and conflict management, customer and inter-team issues, decisions authority and accountability, roles and interdependence, support from the organization, and team member skills. The researchers conducted this study to show the importance of support staff in the private hospitals in the City of San Fernando, La Union. The researchers evaluate the team culture inside the office among support staff in the private hospitals. This study will be a significant endeavor in promoting good work environment in the workplace and motivations of hospital employees. To collect the data related to the personal profile, employment profile and the extent of team culture among support staff in private hospitals in La Union, a survey instrument was administered to the one hundred fifty (150) support staff of the private hospitals. Frequency counts, percentages, mean, 5-point Likert scale and one-way ANOVA were used for the data analysis. Findings revealed that there is no difference on the team culture across the employment profile of the respondents when group as to gender, civil status, highest educational attainment, and job position.

    Team culture refers to the values, beliefs and behavior shared by a team in an organization and how people work together towards common goals. The standard for the extent of team culture of the support staffs includes clarity of team goals, communication and conflict management, customer and inter-team issues, decisions authority and accountability, roles and interdependence, support from the organization, and team member skills. The purpose of this study is to determine the extent of practice of team culture in the District Hospitals in La Union. To collect the data related to the personal profile, employment profile and the extent of team culture in the District II hospitals in La Union, a survey instrument was administered to the eighty-four (84) support staffs of the District II hospitals in La Union, frequency counts, percentages, mean, 5-point Likert scale, T-test and one-way ANOVA were used for the data analysis. Findings revealed that there is no significant difference on the team culture across the employment profile of the respondents when group as to gender, civil status, highest educational attainment, hospital sections and length of service.
