Abstract
Sweet potato leaf meal is a potential source of feed for broilers as feed extender. This study was conducted to determine the performance of broilers fed with sweet potato leaf meal (2%, 4%, 6% and 8%) as feed extender and to determine the profitability of using sweet potato leaf meal. It was conducted from November 8, 2011 to December 12, 2011 at Cadapli, Bangar, La Union. A total of 75 heads 14 days-old broiler chicks were distributed at random into five treatments in three blocks following the RCBD. Result of the study revealed that the birds fed with 6% to 8% sweet potato leaf meal significantly reduced the feed consumption of birds. However, the final weight, gain in weight, feed conversion ratio and profit above feed, medicine and stock cost of birds fed with 2% to 8% sweet potato leaf meal were comparable with the birds fed with pure broiler starter mash.
