Abstract
Due to high cost of feeds, researchers work on the use of possible feed supplement for broilers such as seaweed meal. Hence, this study was conducted to determine the performance of broilers fed with different levels (5%, 10%, 15%) of seaweed meal and to determine the profit above feed, medicine and stock cost. This study was conducted at Almeida, Balaoan, La Union from December 24, 2010 to
January 28, 2011. Sixty, 14 days old broiler chicks were distributed into four treatments with three blocks following the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD).
The results showed that the performance of birds fed with different levels of seaweed meal were comparable to those fed with pure broiler starter mash in terms of final weight, gain in weight and profit above feed, medicine and stock cost. Birds fed with 15% seaweed meal significantly consumed more feeds but with poor conversion ratio.
