Abstract
Corn is considered one of the best feeds for broilers because of its higher energy value. The study was conducted to determine the levels of corn grits as feed supplement at growing finishing stage of broilers from October 9 to November 13, 2010 at Pa-o, Balaoan, La Union.Sixty, 14 day-old chicks were distributed at random into four treatments employing the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). Each treatment had 15 birds with five birds per replicate. The treatments used were the following T1 – Pure Broiler Starter Crumble (control), T2 – 25% corn grits + BSC, T3 – 30% corn grits + BSC, T4 – 35% corn grits + BSC.Result of the study showed that the birds fed with pure broiler starter crumble T1 and birds fed with 30% corn grits + BSC T3 performed comparably in terms of final weight and gain in weight but significantly better than the birds fed with 25% and 35% corn grits + BSC. However, the feed consumption, feed conversion ratio and profit above feed, medicine and stock cost were not affected by the varying levels of corn grits as feed supplement.
