Abstract
Due to the costly feeds brought about by imported raw materials, poultry raisers have to look for locally available alternative source of feedstuff. Hence, this study on the different levels of ubi meal (5%, 10%, 15% and 20%) was conducted to determine the performance of broilers from December 21, 2007 to January 25, 2008 at the teakwood residence, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University- North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union. Seventy-five 14-day old broiler chicks were used in the study using the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) in 3 replications.
The different levels of ubi meal as extender to broiler starter ration resulted to lower final weight and gain in weight, and reduced feed intake as compared to birds fed with pure commercial broiler starter ration. However, comparable feed conversion efficiency cost of feed to produce a kilogram gain in weight and profit was obtained.
