Abstract
This study entitled "The Perceived Motivational factors of the Athletes of DMMSU-SLUC", has been prepared by Sheryl Joy A. Tavara , and Ma. Melanie V. Zarate This study seek to answer the following questions: 1. What is the demographic profile of the athletes? 2. What is the profile of the coaches? 3. What is the perceived motivational factor of the athletes? 4. Is there a significant relationship between the profile of the athletes and their perceived motivational factors? 5. Is there a significant relationship between the profile of the coaches and their perceived motivational factors of the athletes of DMMMSU-SLUC? 6. Is there a significant difference between the athletes and coaches perception on the motivation of the athletes of DMMMSU-SLUC as to their Physical, Emotional and Social Motivation? This study will be a great help for the coaches who will help their athletes to build character and provide good preparation for their lives .Also the athletes who are the beneficiaries of this study, it hopes that they gain personal enrichment and improvement in their participation in competitive school sports The independent variables of the study are the demographic profile of the respondents and perception of athletes and coaches. The dependent variable is the motivational factors with respect to physical, emotional and social which determine the respondents' different response. The questionnaire was used in gathering the needed data. There were 116 respondents composed of 100 athletes and 16 varsity coaches. The frequency count was used to determine the profile of both athletes and coaches as to their: gender, age, years of coaching experience sports or event represented, highest sports competition and athletes best sports. The weighted mean was used to determine the motivation of the athletes as to physical, emotional and social. Person Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to determine the relationship between the profile between the profile of both athletes and coaches and their perceived motivational factors of the athletes of DMMMSU-SLUC.T-test was used to determine the difference between the athletes and coaches perception on the motivational factors of the athletes of DMMMSU-SLUCas to their physical, emotional and social motivation. The study found out that the profile of the athletes and coaches has a significant relationship with their perception in perceiving the motivational factors of the athletes of DMMMSU-SLUC.There for the null hypothesis is rejected. Also the perception of the athletes of their motivation has a difference with their coaches' perception, therefore the null hypothesis was also accepted. Based of the findings of the study, the researchers recommended that the coaches should assist more their athletes to improve more their skills in sports and coaches should support more their athletes to cope up with some obstacles that may impede self enrichment.
