Abstract
Microfinance institutions are recognized for their role in poverty alleviation, contributing to positive change and improvements in the quality of lives of its members. This study delved into whether microfinance truly benefits the impoverished or only worsens their financial situation. The descriptive method of research design, particularly the qualitative observational method of research, were adopted in the analysis of the study and the researchers conducted interviews using a questionnaire as the primary gathering tool. The finding revealed that despite the respondents claimed disadvantages, the majority microfinance institution did not completely eradicate poverty, with minor improvements, they can fulfill their core mission of helping their members escape poverty.
