Abstract
This study made use of the pretest-posttest one control and three experimental groups research design to compare the performance and participation of the Science 1 students through varied grouping schema namely gender, IQ, learning style, and mixed grouping.
The worksheets were validated by four competent teachers in Science in terms of content, presentation and organization, accuracy and up-to-datedness, and format. The worksheets have passed the criteria of validation. All suggestions and recommendations served as the basis for improving the worksheets.
Based on the findings of the study, it is concluded that (1) the mean performance of the students in the varied grouping schema is satisfactory; (2) there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test of each of the four group of respondents; (3) the students in varied grouping schema moderately participated in the laboratory activities
It is recommended that the bases in grouping students should be observed and practiced regularly to better facilitate group works and improve the members’ participation; the improved worksheets can be adopted by the Science teachers; the teachers are encouraged to make modifications in groupings regularly by considering the preferred learning styles, IQ and other factors that will improve the performance of the members of the group, by proper tasking, and by exposing them to strategies aligned to their preferred mode of learning.
