Abstract
Electricity is considered a necessity to support human life, but many people still don’t have access to it. Not only that, but the primary method of generating electricity is also proven to be detrimental to the environment. One way to combat these problems is to utilize renewable energy, specifically hydropower. It is an efficient source of energy and is a great alternative for people who live in rural areas where electricity is scarce. This study focused on the design, fabrication, testing, and evaluation of the Screw Hydropower Generator to address the issue regarding energy. In addition, the improved design allows for an adaptable machine that can be used in different conditions. Trial testing proved the machine to be efficient. The machine achieved an average power output of 61.856 Watts, with an average mechanical efficiency of 79.752% and an average generator efficiency of 72.928%. Consequently, the calculated return on investment (ROI) is 120.778%, which is considered to be a very good percentage.
