Abstract
This is a comparative-descriptive study, which sought to determine whether there is existing significant differences between demographic and psychological of students with both parents and students with solo parents at Aringay National High School; Aringay, La Union The demographic profile was in terms of: age, socio economic status, number of siblings and, sibling position. The psychological profile was in terms of the mental and problems. The study used the questionnaire-checklist and interview to determine the demographic profile while and standardized psychological tests were used in determining the psychological profile. To quantify and qualify the data, frequency counts and percentages were used. The Chi - Square (X2) set at .05 level of significance was used to determine if there existed significant differences between the demographic and psychological profiles of the two-sets of respondents Findings It was found that there is no significant difference between the demographic profiles of the two sets of students. Moreover, there is no significant difference of the psychological profiles of the respondents. It was then concluded that children with both parents and with solo parent did not differ significantly as to demographic profile and psychological profile. As a result, the researchers forwarded the following recommended the following: 1. Parents of whether both or solo has to provide the right way of nurturing and upbringing of their children in order to develop a strong and positive ~rsona1ity of the child. Personality development of children is greatly influenced by parents. 2. Parents should endeavor to safeguard the sanctity of marriage, as it is more convenient to rear children when both parents stay together. In cases of unavoidable circumstances of spouse separation, the remaining parent should strive to rear the child to a positive personality by continually maintaining open line of communication with the child. That could help in building proper conduct and proper disposition. 3. Other researchers on the same topic should include other variables present in the environment of the child like relatives and guardians.
