Abstract
Seaweed is an extremely precious resource since it is utilized in food, drugs, and biofuels. However, the high water content of seaweed can pose many problems in storage, transportation, and processing. For instance, in the Philippines, one of the largest seaweed exporting coastlines in the world, farmers generally sun-dry their seaweed for up to 3 days in order to reach their targeted product quality. This method has major drawbacks since it takes a lot of time and depends on weather conditions, making the method inefficient at times. This study aims to develop a pre-drying technique to reduce the moisture content of freshly harvested seaweed before it’s processed further. With this, the seaweed farmers will benefit as this automatic pre-drying machine offers a big help to lessen the time of processing the seaweed.
