Abstract
Due to the abused use of the chemical insecticides that may affect human health
and the environment, the practices of organic agriculture is of paramount importance.
This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of organic insecticides to control insect pests of okra to determine the most effective botanical against insect pests of okra.
This was conducted at Horticulture Project of the Agriculture Department of the Don
Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, North La Union Campus Bacnotan, La
Union from June 20, 2016 to October 22, 2016. Following the Randomized Complete
Block Design in three blocks. The treatments were as follows; T0 - Control, T1 -
Kakawate, T2 - Lagundi, T3 - Lantana, T4 - Makabuhay, T5 - Marigold and T6 -
Chemical insecticide (Karate).
Based on the findings of the study, organic insecticides to control insect pests of
okra were found that all botanical spray were comparably effective with chemical
insecticide. Lagundi, lantana and makabuhay are promising the botanical insecticides to
substitute chemical insecticide.
