Abstract
Soybean is one of the most versatile crops that can help solve the problems of hunger and malnutrition. Hence, the study on soybean entries (IBP Sy 2005-05-179, IBP
Sy 2008-04-03A, IBP Sy 2008-05-177A, ICGV 02227, LG Sy 9956, LG Sy 63 and NSIC
Sy 9) were evaluated to identify location specific and high yielding soybean entries
under DMMMSU Bacnotan, La Union condition employing RCBD in four blocks from
December 18, 2016 to March 24, 2017.
Results revealed that LG Sy 63 flowered the earliest comparable to the national
check, NSIC Sy 9 than other entries tested under DMMMSU conditions.
All soybean entries tested matured earlier than the national check, NSIC Sy 9.
All soybean entries were found comparable in terms of survival rate and seed
yield in grams per plot or kilogram per hectare.
IBP Sy 2008-04-03A, IBP Sy 2008-05-177A, ICGV 02227, and LG Sy 63 obtained
heavier weight of 100 seeds comparable to the national check, NSIC Sy 9 than IBP Sy
2005-05-179 and LG Sy 9956.
All soybean entries were found moderately resistant to insect pest and diseases
while excellent in terms of lodging and shattering rate comparable to national check,
NSIC Sy 9.
