Abstract
This study was conducted to determine which varieties of bush sitao are suited as intercrop with rambutan. This was conducted from October 2011 to January 2012 at the Old Agroforestry Research and Demonstration Farm (ARDF), Rambutan plantation, DMMMSU-NLUC, Bacnotan, La Union. The area was prepared and laid out following the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four blocks and four plots.
The treatments used are the following:
V0- native bush sitao
V1- bintorina
V2- sumilang
V3- sumayet
Results of the study showed a highly significant difference among the treatments on the mean length per pods and weight of 100 seeds.
However, the total number of pods per harvest area, mean number of seeds, total weight per harvest area, computed yield per hectare, and herbage yield showed insignificant results. Based on the result of the study, the researcher recommends a follow-up study to be conducted to draw a more conclusive result.
