Abstract
The substrate mixer was designed, fabricated and evaluated from February, 2020 to June, 2020.
The substrate mixer was designed for batch type mixing. The performance of the machine was evaluated in terms of its capacity, mixing efficiency, and discharge efficiency. The data was analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) in Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD).
Saw dust, rice straw, and their combination were used as test materials. The
machine was tested using different main substrate component, factor (a), (saw dust, rice straw, and saw dust and rice straw combination) with different mixing time, factor (b) (10 mins, 15 mins, and 20 mins) with two replications per treatment.
The machine had a capacity, mixing efficiency, and discharge efficiency of 163.21 kilogram per hour, 85.12 percent, and 91.87 percent respectively. The production cost of the machine was Php38, 450.00 and the payback period was 10 months and 10 days.
