Abstract
The study aimed to know the effect of neem (Azadirachtaindica) leaves extract coating in prolonging the shelf life and quality of guapple fruits. The study was conducted at Barangay Santiago, Bauang, La Union from November 2016 to March 2017.
Results revealed highly significant result among treatments in terms of initial
weight and taste at the solution, and weight loss at the solution and the wrapping material. Significant results were shown at the color for the solution and not significant result among treatments in terms of initial weight, taste, and the color of the wrapping material, and final weight, crispiness, and freshness at the solution and the wrapping material.
The recorded highest mean for initial weight was 336.94 g at A3, final weight was 299.17 g at A3B2 weight loss was 18.12% at A3 and 18.79% at B1, life span was 11.67at A2, color was 4.16 at A2, taste was 4.56 at A2, crispiness (flesh texture) was 2.93 at A2B2, and freshness was 3.27 at A2B1.
