Abstract
The mechanical coconut dehusker was designed, constructed, and evaluated from August, 2015 to February, 2016.
The coconut dehusker was designed for continuous feeding. The performance of the machine in terms of its capacity and efficiency was evaluated. Cost and return analysis of the machine was also computed.
Mature coconut fruits with diameter ranging from 140 mm to 165 mm were used as test materials. The machine was tested using different dehusking speeds (40-48 rpm, 48-56 rpm, and 56-64 rpm) with three replications per treatment.
The machine had an average capacity and efficiency of 366 pieces per hour and 62.22 percent, respectively. The machine cost was 29, 637.76 pesos and the payback period is 1 year and 6 months.
