Abstract
Attaining a high yield from cucumber has now posed a problem of a continuous
supply of fresh cucumbers in the market especially in La Union condition. Therefore,
there is a need to increase the number of female flowers during production in order to
have an increased rate of fruit formation. This study was conducted to determine the time of terminal bud pruning on the growth and yield in cucumber to increase yield. It was revealed that terminal bud pruning at seedling stage can effect to a higher number of fruits per hill than terminal vine pruning at 7th, 10th and 13th nodes. In the same way, the no pruning technique, terminal bud pruning at seedling stage and pruning at terminal bud at the 7th node had a comparable total weight of fruits per hill.
