Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the: (1) ovicidal and larvicidal efficacy of fresh duckweed and duckweed crude extract against mosquito ova and larva, and (2) determine the most effective concentration of fresh duckweed and duckweed crude extract against mosquito ova and larva.
Three (3) different concentrations of fresh duckweeds (20g, 40g, 60g) and three (3) different concentrations of duckweed crude extract (100ml, 200ml, 300ml) were incorporated per treatment replicated three (3) times. Twenty (20) mosquito ova and larva per treatment were collected. Data were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and further analyzed using Tukey's HSD (honest significant difference) test.
Fresh duckweeds have low lethal effect against mosquito ova while it exerts high lethal effect against mosquito larva. Duckweed crude extract has a very high lethal effect against mosquito ova while it exerts weak lethal effect against mosquito larva. Treatment 2 (40g fresh duckweed) is the most effective concentration against mosquito ova while T6 (300 ml duckweed crude extract) is the most effective concentration against mosquito
larva. Treatment 3 (60g fresh duckweeds) is the most effective concentration of fresh duckweed against mosquito ova while T3 (300ml duckweed crude extract) is the most effective concentration of duckweed crude extract.
