Abstract
GONZALES ROMMEL M. (2023). Varietal Performance of Pole Sitao Under Organic Management System. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-North La Union Campus, College of Agriculture, Bacnotan, La Union. Adviser: Kevin E. Elias, M.Sc. Organic management system is important to lessen the use of harmful synthetic chemicals on agricultural land and the environment. The use of organic fertilizer in the right plant variety is important for high production. Hence, this study aimed to determine the effect of the organic management system on different pole sitao varieties. This was conducted at Barangay Cabaroan, Bacnotan, La Union from February 3, 2021 to June 1, 2021. The varieties of pole sitao are Galante, Bongga, Negrostar, Pantastiko, Makisig and Matikas. They are laid-out following the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three blocks. The results showed that there are no significant differences among varieties in terms of the number of days to emerge, number of pods per sample plant, length of pod, weight of pod, weight of marketable pod, weight of non-marketable pod, pest incidence or reaction to pest and dry biomass. However, the Matikas variety flowered the earliest at 40.67 days among other varieties. Meanwhile, Galante obtained the highest fresh biomass of 876.33g and the lightest fresh biomass was attained in Bongga and Matikas with 320.33g and 398g, respectively.
