Abstract
The study was conducted at the DMMMSU-NLUC Agro Forestry Nursery from January 27, 2008 to February 13, 2008 to evaluate the performance of the mist irrigation system in terms of the following parameters: nozzle discharge, irrigation efficiency and the mist distribution pattern. Two operation conditions were considered, namely; with one lateral operating and the other was all laterals operating at the same time.Considering the two operations, the mist irrigation system showed an excellent efficiency. In terms of nozzle discharge, the system had higher discharge when only one lateral is operating because the concentration of the pressure is only in one lateral as compared to when all the laterals are operated wherein there is a relatively low discharge of the nozzle. The poor mist distribution pattern of the system was caused by the overlapping of mist accompanied by the clogging of some nozzles and by the non-uniformed nozzles as laid out in the laterals.
