Abstract
A study on bamboo craft industry in selected municipalities of La Union was
conducted specificallyto: 1) determine the profile of bamboo manufacturers/sellers;2) determine the manufacturing and marketing practices of bamboo manufacturers; and 3) to determine the problems encountered by the respondents.
The data were gathered through personal interview with the aid of questionnaire from the 30 manufacturers/sellers of bamboo craft products in top bamboo crafts manufacturing municipalities of La Union. These were analyzed through frequency counts, average percentage and weighted mean.
The findings revealed that majority of the respondents had 48 years’ average,
male and college undergraduate. Majority of the respondents were producing bamboo craft for 7.5 years average, with a start-up capital of P18, 567 and secured their raw materials direct from the farmers. Majority of them were joining trade fairs to promote their products. They experienced peak sale during January-March and OctoberDecember and experienced lean sale during the months of July-September. Limited raw materials, attitude of workers and lack of workers were considered as very serious problems of manufacturers.
