Abstract
Cooperatives are considered by the government as one effective tool for economic development because of their demographic organization and economic orientation. Multi-purpose cooperative is a type of cooperative that incorporates two or more cooperative types. This study determined the profile and the financial performance of the multi-purpose cooperative respondents as well as the relationship between the two variables. Data were gathered from 10 multi-purpose cooperative respondents within the province of La Union using a validated survey questionnaire. Statistical tools used to test and analyze the data are frequency counts and percentage, mean, ratio analysis, Spearman's Rho and Cramer’s V. Test results revealed that there is no significant relationship between the profile and the financial performance of the multi-purpose cooperative respondents. Thus, indicating that the profile of the multi-purpose cooperative has no direct relationship to their financial performance.
