basic education in the Philippines? and; 4). Is there a significant
difference between the views of the teachers and parents on the benefits
and problems to be encountered in implementing the program of
DepEd?
The lottery sampling method used by the researchers to
determined the total population of 25 DEFEMNHS faculty. However, in
determining the views of the parents, the researcher used the purposive
sampling method to the elementary parents at the Agoo, East
Elementary School.
Statistical treatment such as frequency count, weighted mean,
grand mean, chi square test, and percentage was used to determined
the profile of the respondents and the items of benefits and problems to
be encountered towards the implementation of k-12.
Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were:
1). According to age, almost half of the population of teachers and
parents belong to the age of 25-31. This implies that they have enough
knowledge to understand the implementation of k+ 12 in our educational
system. Most of them are females and most of them are married. As of
educational attainment, all of the teachers are college graduate. On the
other hand, almost half of the parents finished high school level. This
simply means that teachers are fully aware towards the benefits and
problems can be obtain. In terms of family's monthly income all of the
teacher receives above 10,000. It implies that the respondents are belong
to middle class. On the other hand, almost half of the parent's monthly
income belongs to 5,000 above. This simply means that parents belong to
lower class; 2).Teachers and parents agrees that k+12 program can be
the answer to the quality of education in our country as revealed from
the benefits to be obtained in implementing k+12 and; 3). As to the
problems to encountered in implementing this program both the
DEFEHMNS faculty and the parents strongly agrees.
The recommendations are: 1.) Teachers especially parents shall be
properly oriented on the k+12 curricula to be implemented. A massive
orientation or enlightenment is important; 2). Proper dissemination to
teachers and parents on the possible benefits in the implementation is
needed in order to inspire them in the future and; 3).That the
government shall lead and encourage the teachers especially the parents
that the said problems are part of molding the students. The government
must create a possible outlook on k+12 program especially in
advertisements and other forms of paraphernalia. The benefits to the
students should always be highlighted.
