Abstract
Recruitment and selection are some of the basic functions of Human Resource Management. This study is designed to determine the sources of applicants, recruitment practices, and selection practices of private hospitals in the City of San Fernando, La Union. It employed the descriptive-survey method and data-was gathered from three (3) human resource managers, heads of unit and staff through a questionnaire. The findings revealed that the respondents from private hospitals source applicants from walk-in, job advertisement, and referral of former employees. They recruit applicants using streamers / tarpaulins and websites and prefer to collect curriculum vitae through personal submission or through company email, and sift the curriculum vitae based on personal skills, work experience, education, and training. Private hospitals conduct ability test, psychological test, intelligence test, personality test, telephone background and interview, background and reference check through telephone and they require chest x- ray, drug test and RT-PCR test (COVID 19test) and send text message to notify applicants.
