With this, the present study seeks to find the purpose of drinking coffee in social relationships, how it fosters intimacy, strengthens relationships, and the feelings elicited when drinking coffee with someone. The study employed a qualitative phenomenological research design and used a face-to-face semi-structured interview with a total of 10 coffee drinkers within the province of La Union as the respondents. Results showed that the purpose for drinking coffee depends on the personal view of each individual; coffee fosters intimacy by increasing closeness and creating a comfortable space; coffee strengthens social relationships by building an emotional connection and as a catalyst for social interaction; and respondents felt happiness, comfort, and relaxation while drinking coffee. It is evident in the study that coffee drinking is used as a social activity that fosters intimacy, strengthens relationships, and creates positive feelings when drinking coffee with companions
