Adbusting is claimed to be a tool for developing critical thinking. This study investigated the impact of adbusting on Grade 11 students' critical media literacy skills. It utilized a quasi-experimental pretest-postest design to examine how adbusting interventions influenced the students' ability to analyze and deconstruct advertising messages. Critical thinking test was administered to 40 senior high school students before and after the intervention including essays graded using rubrics. The results indicated that adbusting significantly improved the students’ critical media literacy skills wherein the scores of the students elevated from an average score of 45.55 to an above-average score of 57.88. Therefore, the use of adbusting and engaging the students to textual and visual advertisement analysis can enhance students’ critical thinking skills. Consequently, integrating adbusting into media literacy education can empower students to decipher, challenge, and reshape advertising messages and enable them to navigate the complex media landscape with greater awareness. Further research is recommended to explore the long-term effects of adbusting on students' media literacy skills beyond the educational context.
