Abstract
This descriptive developmental study conducted focused on the development of interactive lessons in high school Genetics as a resource material for Science teachers. Twenty-three public school teachers in the second district of La Union were surveyed about the extent of adequacy of the Science learning environment as to Science equipment, teaching materials, computers and existing interactive resource materials, extent of support of the school administration, profile in terms of the number of years in teaching Biology and level of attendance to seminars/trainings in Biology.
Their level of knowledgeability in Genetics and their skill in using the computer were found to be not knowledgeable for the topics in Genetics but were skilled in the basics of using computers, respectively. These were the bases for the development of the interactive lessons in Genetics. The interactive resource material was validated by five Biology experts and five Computer specialists. The evaluation showed that the resource material Passed all the criteria set by DepED as well as in the CBI Software evaluation.
Based on the findings and conclusions, the researcher recommends that teachers must be trained more on content especially Genetics and the use of computer with the support of the school administrators. Also, teachers are encouraged to learn how to develop resource materials that are beneficial to the learners.
