Abstract
The transition of the Philippine Basic Education Curriculum to K to 12 curriculum affected reforms in the secondary level. One of the major changes is the transition of instruction from teacher-centered to student-centered approach. Hence, an appropriate teaching strategy should be developed and used by teachers. Earth and Life Science is one of the core subjects in the Senior High School under the K to 12 curriculum.
This paper developed and analyzed the validity of Project-based Learning Teaching Exemplars for Life Science and its effectiveness. The study made use of quasi experimental one-group pretest — posttest design. The teaching exemplar was evaluated along areas of face, content and readability.
The developed project-based learning teaching exemplars was valid along face and content while its readability level is intended for 9%, 10", 12* grade and college students. There was a remarkable increase in the performance of the respondents after the use of project-based learning teaching exemplars in Life Science. The project scores of the respondents exceeded the minimum requirement in skills, knowledge and understanding in Life Science. The use of project-based learning teaching exemplars in the teaching and learning process is recommended.
