Abstract
Wellness activities are practices that contribute to the development of health and increase the functional capacity of an individual. The study determined the health and fitness practices of the secondary teachers as a basis for wellness activities. The descriptive survey method was used with the questionnaire and health-related fitness tests as the main tools in gathering data. Data were tested using frequency scale and percentages, and Pearson-r. The study was administered to 161 secondary teachers in public and private schools of Nagulian, La Union.
The study found out that most of the teachers are in their early adulthood, married, young in the teaching profession, have trainings in district-wide level on health and wellness, and have commendable medical profile and desirable wellness practices. Age was found to be positively correlated to intellectual practices but negatively correlated to emotional and social practices. Body mass index is negatively correlated to intellectual wellness practices while flexibility fitness is correlated to intellectual and social wellness practices.
