Abstract
Reading has always been a contrivance for successful learning, thus, reading teachers continue to explore methodologies that will enhance reading comprehension. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of modified Suggestopedia in the reading comprehension of Grade 7 students. The study used true experimental two group pretest-posttest design and descriptive survey. The instruments employed were pretest-posttest, formative tests and survey questionnaire. The study revealed a greater achievement of the experimental group in their formative tests as reflected by the computed p-value of 0.00 at 0.01 level of significance. There existed a very significant improvement of the experimental group’s reading comprehension level as indicated by the computed p-value of 0.043 at 0.01 level of significance. The results of the questionnaire illustrated that the respondents in the experimental group had a very favorable response toward modified suggestopedia as a strategy in reading.
