| dc.description.abstract | This study aimed to preserve and promote awareness of Luzon s epic traditions through a culturally grounded digital game. The project developed Lakbayin, a 2D role-playing game inspired by selected Luzon epics, integrating narrative storytelling, exploration, and combat mechanics to enhance cultural engagement among learners. The game was developed using the Game Development Life Cycle (GDLC) and implemented with the Godot Engine and Aseprite for asset creation. To evaluate player experience and playability, the Player Experience Inventory (PXI) was administered to forty-four (44) students and four (4) IT experts. Results indicated generally high and positive player experiences across key dimensions such as enjoyment, immersion, audiovisual appeal, clarity of goals, and engagement, suggesting that the game effectively captured player interest while delivering culturally meaningful content. The findings demonstrated that Lakbayin served as an effective game-based learning tool for revitalizing Luzon epics, enhancing player engagement, and fostering cultural appreciation through interactive digital storytelling. | |
