Abstract
PULMANO, JINNEFER B. (2023) Survival Percentage and Growth of Three Fruiting Varieties of Mulberry (Morus alba. L) as Influenced by Different Duration of Rooting Hormone. Master of Science in Agronomy. Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, North La Union Campus, College of Graduate Studies, Bacnotan, La Union. Adviser: Sagun, Analyn V., Ph.D. Generally fruiting mulberry varieties are difficult to multiply by vegetative means. However, it may be facilitated through the use of hormones. This study was conducted to find out the most responsive mulberry varieties (V1-Alf025, V2-Alfonso, and V3-Alf004), find out the best dipping duration (L1-36hrs, L2-24hrs, and L3-12hrs), determine the interaction effect of the dipping duration and mulberry fruiting varieties on the survival percentage and growth and determine the economic potentials of hormone dipping with the different mulberry varieties. Two thousand one hundred sixty (2,160) mulberry cuttings were randomly distributed into two factors with three replication employing strip plot design. Results showed that the duration of hormone dipping significantly affected the survival rate and growth of the mulberry fruit variety. The three mulberry fruiting varieties performed comparably except for the weight of the shoot and length of the roots. Further, the interaction of the dipping duration of hormones and the variety of mulberry significantly influenced the survival rate and growth.
