Abstract
SEGUNDO, EMMANUEL T. (2023), Different Rearing Systems and Levels of Guava (Psidium guajava) Leaf Meal for Broilers (Junior Chicks) Under Naguilian, La Union Conditions. Master of Science in Animal Science. Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University North La Union Campus, College of Graduate Studies, Bacnotan, La Union. Adviser: Camalig, Fe M., Ph.D. The rearing systems and feedstuffs are vital elements in broiler production. The study determined the performance of broiler (Junior chicks) as influenced by different rearing systems and levels of guava leaf meal. One hundred twenty unsexed Junior chicks were randomly distributed into eight treatment combinations in three replications employing Strip Plot Design. This study was conducted on December 9, 2022 – January 13, 2023, at Nagsidorisan, Naguilian, La Union. Results showed that battery cage rearing system resulted to heavier final weight and gain in weight of birds compared to deep-litter rearing system. However, the levels of guava leaf meal did not significantly influence the performance of broilers (Junior chicks). Furthermore, a comparable performance of broilers (Junior chicks) was shown in the interaction effects of rearing systems and levels of guava leaf meal.
