Abstract
Poultry raisers are faced with the problem of high feed cost and exploring other alternative source of feed ingredients for broiler production. Hence, this study was conducted at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union from November 23 to December 28, 2007 to determine the effect of buga meal (BM) as feed supplement (T0-pure commercial broiler starter mash, T1 (5% BM + 100% CBSM); T2 (10% CBBM + 100% CBSM); and T3 (15% BM + 100% CBSM) on the performance of broilers and to determine the profit above feed, medicine and stock cost of broiler. Results revealed a comparable final weight, gain in weight, feed consumption, feed conversion efficiency and profit above cost of birds fed with 5%-10% buga meal to birds fed with pure commercial broiler starter mash. However, the addition of 15% buga meal as feed supplement to usual ration significantly reduced the affect performance of broilers.
