dc.description.abstractThis study aimed to find out the attitude of parents and their parenting style and to find out if there i~ a relationship that exists between the two variables. The respondents of the study were 205 parents living at Tococ, Sto. Tomas, La Union. Frequency counts, percentages, average weighted mean, were used to analyze, determine and interpret data gathered. The Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis through the microstat software was used to determine the relationship between the variables involved in the study. Based on the finding a on the respondents' profile, majority of the parents were on the age ranges 31-35 and 35-40 years xvi old, with 39 or 19.02°A,respectively. Most of the respondents were females with 108 or 52.68% of them. There were 102 or 49.760/0 of the respondents who have a number of children from 4-6 while 69 or 33.66 percent of them have a monthly family income of Php 2,501-5,000 only. As to their educational attainment, most of them were college undergraduate with 110 or 53.66%. The parents at Tococ, Sto. Tomas, La Union, who were the respondents of the study, imposed democratic parenting style with an average weighted mean of 2.50 rated as always. The age, sex, number of children, educational attainment, and family income were significantly related to the parenting style used by the respondents, having a computed value of - .39002, .17266, -.36289, -.22065, -.24960 respectively, compared to the critical value which is +/ -.11524 at .05 level of significance. The attitude of parents towards their children is not related to the parenting style, with -.06620 as computed value compared to the tabulated value at a .05 which is +/ -.11524. xvii The respondents' attitude towards their children .does not determine their parenting style they imposed to their children.
