This study was conducted to: (1) determine the efficacy of garlic extract and castor oil soap against selected fungi; (2) determine the most effective concentration of garlic extract and castor oil soap against selected fungi; (3) determine the species of fungi affected with garlic extract and castor oil soap; and (4) compare the efficacy of garlic extract and castor oil soap against selected fungi. Garlic extract and castor oil soap with the following concentrations: 10% (T2), 15% (TO. 20% (T4) and 25% (T5) were prepared. Plain soap served as T|. Sensitivity test of the different treatments was done against Microsporum canis and Candida albicans. The zone of inhibition was measured, tabulated and subjected to two-way analysis of variance with interactions and t-Test to determine their differences The antimicrobial index was also computed and tabulated. Results showed that garlic extract and castor oil soap were both effective against M. canis and C. albicans as revealed by their zone of inhibition. Twenty five percent (T5) garlic extract and 10% (T2) and 15% (T3) castor oil soap were the effective concentrations against AT. canis. Concentrations of 10% (T2), 15% (T3), 20% (T4) and 25% (T4) garlic extract and castor oil soap were effective against C albicans. Both M. canis and C. albicans are susceptible to the effects of garlic extract and castor oil soap Garlic extract soap is more effective than castor oil soap against M. canis but their effects against C. albicans are comparable.
