Abstract
Poultry raisers are faced with the problem on the high cost of feed and in exploring other alternative sources of feed ingredients for broiler production. Hence, this study was conducted at San Martin, Bacnotan, La Union from November 27, 2009 to December 31, 2009 to determine the effects of buga meal as feed substitute on the performance of broilers and to determine the profit above feed, medicine and stock cost of broiler. The treatments were as follows T₀ (Pure Commercial Broiler Starter Mash), T₁ (4% BM + 96% BSM); T₂ (8% BM + 92% BSM); and T₃ (12% BM + 88% BSM). Results revealed a comparable final weight, gain in weight, feed consumption, feed conversion efficiency and profit above feed, medicine and stock cost of birds fed with 4% - 12% buga meal to birds fed with pure commercial broiler starter mash.
