Obra, Ivy Grace C. (2023). Varietal performance of Bush Sitao (Vigna unguiculata spp. Unguiculata Verdcourt x Vigna unguiculata spp. sesquipedalis Verdcourt) Planted between Calamansi Trees as Affected by different Mulching Materials. Bachelor of Science in Agroforestry. Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University North La Union Campus, College of Agroforestry and Forestry, Bacnotan, La Union. Adviser: Gumpad, Elvira R. Thus, Bush Sitao is a cross hybrid between the native sitao and cowpea. It is a new type of sitao that grows on bushes instead of vines. This type of sitao grows abundantly and easily. It does not require the use of poles or trellises. This research aims to determine the varietal performance of bush sitao planted between calamansi trees as affected by different mulching materials. The research was conducted at the Agroforestry Research and Demonstration Farm, College of Agroforestry and Forestry of the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, Bacnotan La Union, from December 17, 2022, to March 14, 2023. The study was laid-out following the Split Plot Design with three blocks and four treatments. The varieties used in the Study were V1-Sumilang, V2-Black eyed peas, and V3-Native Black, while mulching materials used were M0-No mulch (Control), M1- Plastic mulch, M2-Rice straw, and M3-Sawdust. The variety that produced the heaviest weight of bush sito was the Black eyed peas variety, with a mean of 2898.79 kg (per ha). Followed by Sumilang Bush Sitao variety with a mean of 2,700.77 kg (per ha), and Black native bush beans variety with a mean of 2,518.42 kg (per ha). The results showed that the different varieties and mulching materials did not significantly influence the days to emergence, days to flowering, days to fruiting, days to harvesting, plant height, non- marketable, and yield per hectare. However, the yield per Plot, gross income, net income, and survival percentage were significant in a subplot.
