Abstract
The study was conducted to develop a separating machine and to determine its separating capacity and efficiency. This study was conducted at Cabaroan, Bacnotan, La Union from January 2005 to February 2005. The machine has an overall dimension of 113.665 cm in height, 190.5 cm. length and 55.88 cm. width. Result of the study revealed that the highest capacity of 1.53 kg/hr was obtained when the siever was inclined at 9º with respect to the horizontal with 51.25% separating efficiency. The highest separating efficiency was obtained at T1 5º-inclination with a mean of 78.83, but with 1.19 kg/hr separating capacity. The separating machine had a product recovery of 100% and separating efficiency of 78.83% when the siever was inclined at 5º with respect to the horizontal. This was significantly higher than when it was operated at an inclination of 7º and 9º with respect to the horizontal. The capacity of 1.53kg/hr at 9º-angle of inclination is significantly higher than when operated at 7º and 5º respectively. The investment necessary to develop the machine is twenty thousand and two hundred pesos (PhP 20,200.00).
