Abstract
This study aimed to design and develop a S-Trolley: A Smart Self-Checkout Shopping Trolley to help customers by trying to reduce the amount of time spent in shopping and help coop staff automate their process. Specifically, it aimed to (a) determine the current problems in the shopping process at DMPC; (b) assess the ICT profile of DMPC; (c) evaluate the readiness of DMPC staff and clients; (d) determine the socio-economic profile; (e) evaluate the vulnerability of the developed system; (f) determine the acceptability of the developed system; and (g) determine the relationship between respondents’ socio-economic profile and their perception towards the acceptability of the system. This study used descriptive and developmental type of research with interview, checklist, and survey questionnaire as the main tools in gathering data. The respondents of this study included IT Experts, and Coop Members of Bacnotan, La Union.
The notable results were as follows: (a) The developed system can be an effective medium streamline the process; (b) The Coop Staff and Clients are ready to adapt the technology; (c) The developed system can possibly resist vulnerability attacks; and (d) The developed system is acceptable in all indicators
