| dc.description.abstract | This study was conducted to determine the effects of different holding solutions in lengthening the vaselife of chrysanthemum cutflowers. The seven holding solutions which correspond to the seven treatments were: To - water as the control; -10 ml of Cocogro per 500 ml solution; T2 - 20 ml of Cocogro per 500 ml solution; T3 - 50 ml of Cocogro per 500 ml solution; T4 - 10 ml coconut water per 500 ml solution; T5 - 20 ml coconut water per 500 ml solution; and T6 - 50 ml coconut water per 500 ml solution. Following the Completely Randomized Design, the treatment were replicated three times. The Analysis of Variance and tha Duncan’s Multiple Range Test were used to test the differences among the treatments. Several methods were used such as flower cutting and collection, cleaning and preparation of bottles, and application of the treatments making the experiment possible. Findings showed that treatment 6 is significantly different from other treatments in terms of the number of days before the flowers wilted as revealed in the Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. All other treatments except were found to be insignificant with each other. This further implies that had the longest vaselife duration of the cutflowers. It also showed that ranks second in terms of number of detached ray-flowers within two weeks. Total number of detached ray-flowers revealed an insignificant result among the given treatments. This further implies that number of detached ray-flowers did not affect the longevity of the vaselife of chrysanthemum cutflowers. | |
