dc.description.abstractThe high cost of commercial feeds prompted poultry raisers to look for an alternative feed extender in which yellow corn and rice bran are potential locally available feedstuff. Thus, this study was conducted to evaluate the performance of broilers fed with commercial broiler starter mash extended with yellow corn and rice bran (D1) and their combination using RCBD in three blocks. The 90 chicks at 14day old were distributed at random into five dietary treatments having five birds per replicate. This study was conducted at DMMMSU North La Union Campus, Sapilang, Bacnotan, La Union from November 20 to December 26, 2011. Based on the result of the study, birds fed with varying ratio of yellow corn grits and rice bran and their combination as extender to commercial rations performed comparably with birds fed with pure commercial mash in terms of final and gain in weight, feed conversion ratio and profit above feed, medicine and stock cost. However, results revealed significant result in terms of feed consumption.
