Abstract
Based on literature, addition of growth promotant to animal feed will enhance productivity in pigs. The study was conducted to determine the comparative performance of growing-finishing pigs given with pure commercial feed (T1) and feeds fortified with growth promotant (T2). It was conducted at the DMMMSU-NLUC Piggery Project from September 20, 2016 to December 20, 2016. Twenty piglets of comparable weight were distributed into two treatments (T1-without growth promotant and T2-with growth promotant). Statistical analysis using T-test disclosed that pigs given with growth promotant performed comparably with the pigs without growth promotant in terms of final weight, gain in weight, feed consumption, average daily gain in weight, feed conversion ratio and profit above feed, medicine, and stock cost.
