Abstract
Due to the increasing cost of feeds, researchers are looking for cheap and locally
available feedstuff to substitute commercial feeds. Hence, this study was conducted to
determine the performance of broilers fed with pure Broiler Starter Crumble (BSC)
against those fed with different level of taro corm meal as feed extender. This was
conducted from November 15 to December 20, 2015 at Barangay, Salincob, Bacnotan,
La Union. Sixty, 14 day old broiler chicks were used in the study employing the (RCBD)
in tree blocks with five birds per block.
The results of the study showed that the performance of broilers fed with different
levels of taro corm meal were comparable to those birds fed with pure broiler starter
crumble in terms of final weight, gain in weight, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio,
profit above feed, medicine and stock cost.
