Abstract
The increasing fear about the use of antibiotics in animal feeding paved the way to identify possible substitutes without sacrificing the performance of broilers. This study was conducted to determine the effect of growth enhancers (Animal protein plus Lactose, and Vitamins plus amino acid) on the performance of 60 head broiler chicks. Experimental birds were distributed at random into three treatments replicated four times following the Randomized Complete Block Design from October 10 to November 24, 2007 at the Poultry Project of DMMMSU-NLUC, Bacnotan, La Union. Results of the study revealed that birds supplemented with growth enhancers performed comparably as the birds supplemented with antibiotics in terms of final weight, gain in weight, feed consumption, feed conversion efficiency and profit.
